How To Deal Better With Challenging Times

We’ve all been there at some point in our lives. And the only way to handle difficult times is to step up our games. When you are going through a tough life situation, all your decisions and actions are a result of your temporary emotions. It is very important that you break free from this pattern and start taking control of your life. Here are the things that you must do to set your priorities straight and this is going to help you:

1. Accept Your Current Life Situation And Own It

“Someday, everything will make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, be strong and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.” -John Mayer

At times, life can get intimidating and complicated. We may feel lost. But that doesn’t mean we are actually lost. So, always have a sense of belief in your immediate circumstances and yourself. Know that you’ll navigate to a better place than you are currently in.

2. Be Strong and Have a Positive Frame of Mind

“Stay strong now because things will get better. It might be stormy now but it can’t rain forever.”-Author Unknown

It’s important to have a calm mind. Don’t let the testing times cloud your thought process. Always try to reinforce positive thoughts and don’t forget to stand up for yourself when life is trying to pull you down.

3. Showcase a Good Attitude

“Set your mind that no matter what is going on in your life, you will have a good attitude.”-Joyce Meyer

When the going gets tough, we tend to become low-spirited and hyper-emotional. Sometimes, we may go into our shell, and at other times we may become aggressive and reactive.
It’s important to remember two things:
1. We are responsible for our own life; passive and active reaction outwards is unwarranted.
2. Nobody but you ought to endeavor to get yourself out of the difficult situation you are in. Others may support you, but it’s your journey and you need to deal with it. There shouldn’t be any blaming or expectations.

4. Expel Destructive Habits and Toxic People From Your Life

“Don’t let negative and toxic people rent space in your head. Raise the rent and kick them out.”-Robert Tew

This quote is as much valid for the toxic habits that we adhere to, but may not be fully conscious of. Introspect, identify and plan to get better of them. Negative habits or people drag us down. The only way to win over them is to be aware of them and run away from them as fast as we can.

5. Understand That Your Life Story is Unique

“Don’t compare your life with others, you have no idea what their journey is all about.”- Regina Brett

We all have some good and some undesirable things going on for us. Each one of us faces our own demons and lives through our distinct challenges. So, don’t compare your life to others. It’s totally useless and counter-productive. It’ll either make you feel bad about your own life or distance you from those people.

6. Believe In Yourself And Your Abilities

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it’s stupid.” – Albert Einstein

Accept yourself as you are. You are endowed with abilities and talents of your own. Always believe in them and be confident. How others perceive you is none of your business. Don’t let people bring you down. You are unique and special, and you have to understand this.

7. Count Your Blessings

“There’s always something to be grateful for”- Rhonda Byrne

Even in the darkest hour, be appreciative of what you’ve still got. These difficult times won’t last. It may take some time, but you’ll build your life back. So, at this moment, just be grateful for everything that you still possess. You still have yourself, and you are reading these motivational posts because you wish to get your life back on track.

8. Learn and Grow

“Each pain makes you stronger, each betrayal more intelligent, each disappointment more skillful and each experience wiser.”- Author Unknown

There’s always room for self-improvement to become an even better version of yourself. Difficult times of your life give you lots of opportunities to grow. At the same time, it means challenging your beliefs and working hard towards transforming yourself. All in all, the bright side is, you will end up stronger, wiser and happier.

9. Take The Next Step

“Sometimes the best thing that you can do is not think, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess. Just breathe, and have faith that everything will work out for the best” -Robert Tew

Just take the next step, however small and insignificant it seems at the moment. Don’t overthink or wonder too much about it. If you’re not sure what next to do and how to keep going, give it some time. Observe and absorb. Just let life happen. And then, when you get a feel of how you’d like to take your life forward, take a plunge.

10. Don’t Give Up

“When you find yourself cocooned in isolation and despair and cannot find your way out of the darkness, remember that this is similar to a place where caterpillars go to grow their wings.”-Author Unknown

And while you are doing all the right things, you may feel stuck in a never-ending sea. At these moments, push yourself harder and don’t give up. Cry and break down but also remember to get up. You’ll be at a better place.

I hope this was helpful. Good luck for living through your challenges and emerging out an amazing person. As a closing note, always remember difficult times have an expiry!
